Download Call of Duty WWII Update 1.09. By the end of January, Call of Duty WWII players will see the arrival of the 1.09 update. Sledgehammer is still talking to fans about the specific fixes that will be included in the patch. Michael Condrey, the Game Director, even went on Reddit to talk about issues with sprint-out times and shotgun balance.
Many of the current players have said that it takes too long to go from running to sight aiming. Condrey has stated that he and his team intentionally designed it this way because of WWII’s boost, and also to remove something known as “crutch perks” such as Dexterity.
He had this to say: “When there’s a ‘crutch’ perk like this, it results in a non-choice for players since they feel the need to take that perk or Basic Training just to be competitive. This problem was exacerbated with our Divisions CAC system which promotes a more focused playstyle through a sole, meaningful Basic Training choice rather than a multi-choice Pick system… The removal of boost/thrust also gave us predictable places from which threats could appear and a more consistent closing speed between players. The question for us became, ‘Do we want a crutch perk that also makes the game play faster?’ Our answer was no.”
Condrey has suggested, with that thought in mind, that updates in the future will not address any of the issues related to sprint-out unless there is the possibility of adding a new division focused on movement. Anyone who wants a faster ADS will be able to make use of the Quickdraw Basic Training, but it will still not have an impact after a sprint on ADS.
Something that Condrey has considered, although, is a tweak to the weapon balance on the shotgun roster. SHG, in correlation to demands of the fans, has been experimenting with a 20-point range to the Combat shotgun. The Sawed-Off is currently in testing to increase range as well as reload time. If everything goes as it is hoped, the adjustment to the balance of the weapons could happen by the end of January.
The 1.09 Update is likely to coincide with the Resistance DLC launch around January 30. Early reports are indicating that the focus will be on a variety of issues to include scores in Domination, bugs and health regeneration time. There has been no confirmation on an exact release date.
